About
Hello! My name is Jake Morrison. I was born in 1997. I am an illustrator, storyteller and world-builder. I kick it in Southern California, and work from a home studio where I sequester myself from daylight and only venture outside to walk my two beautiful dogs. My interests (and obsessions) include fusions of science-fiction and fantasy type settings with character-driven narratives.
My career began back in 2018, when I was first able to sustain myself on the fruits of art. It was also around that time that I came up with my first rudimentary pitch, for a series called Dani and Ramen- which I’d continue working on and would end up publishing several graphic novels for.
As a college dropout, I always struggled with a sense of impostor syndrome- but after bunkering down and focusing purely on getting better, as if in a vacuum (and possibly channeling my inner Naruto), I now have much more confidence (and experience) under my belt. This has been in large part thanks to the many opportunities I’ve had to work alongside publishers and studios who always get me to learn more than a few things.

But now, as of 2024, I’ve decided to shift course and point my focus at creating a larger universe for my stories moving forward. I have started on several very exciting series of written and illustrated stories, and get super excited any time I can share the process and progress of my projects with others. These exciting projects include a trading card game, a Tabletop Role-playing Game, and an extended universe of novels and comics. Thank goodness I love multitasking…
I want to create a thriving, breathing and hand-crafted universe that will stand strong in the uncertain future of art. I wish to develop my skills to Polymath levels in the realms of intellectual property, storytelling and illustration. I also want to live in a castle in Tamriel but we’ll work on one thing at a time…
On a real note, I just want to stand on the good side of art and expression, and set a good example for future artists and humans in general, in whatever small way that I can.
I sometimes like to call myself a hermit, with only a cursory knowledge of the terms. I’ve always had a fascination with the more introspective and existential qualities of the universe, and the best way to explore them is inside a nest of books. I do actually believe there’s a bright future for those who desire and seek the truth, philosophy and enlightenment- whatever meaning that word has for you. For myself, the way I can best think to become my best self is to crit. max my intel. stats and lore knowledge. I think there’s something to be desired in mystery- of which there is very little these days.
I detest the idea of A.I. making art, but I would be lying if I didn’t fantasize about the capabilities of such technology. I do find it disgusting to simply generate images and claim to be the owner of them- and I stand by the idea of such generated images be under fair use and free from copyright claims. As an entrepreneur myself, on the other hand, I would like to see what can be done to make the lives of artists like myself easier- namely in taking away much of the tedium required to create long-form animated or sequential stories.
My promise is as follows: I will never use A.I. to substitute human creativity and expression. I will never use a generated image in any sold product, or under any paid contract.
IMPORTANT NOTE: regarding the images on this site, some of them might be rather fuzzy or blurry. This isn’t an accident- as I’ve heard this is a good way to prevent people from training AI models to mimich art styles. Hopefully it works. If not, at least I tried. Womp womp.
